PROCESS OF STAINLESS STEEL INVESTMENT CASTINGS

    Mold Making

    Mold refers to the mold used to produce wax models. This mold is used on a wax pressing machine to mass-produce wax patterns for parts. Materials include aluminum alloy, stainless steel, carbon steel, alloy steel, etc. Determining the mold material based on the order quantity can effectively control costs.

    Wax Model Making & Triming

    Wax Model Making & Triming

    Mix paraffin, resin, and other materials to make the required wax. Use a wax press to press the wax into a model of the part. After demoulding, the burrs of the wax mold need to be trimmed and placed in water to cool.

    Tree Grouping & Dry

    Tree Grouping & Dry

    Use a soldering iron or mechanical assembly method to weld the wax model to the pouring system with the pouring port. This process is called a group tree. After assembling the tree, let it sit until the welded joint solidifies.

    The coating is composed of refractory materials and binders (water glass or silica sol). Before impregnation, the wax tree needs to be deoiled and degreased to improve the adhesion of the paint to its surface. The surface of the wax tree is fully coated with paint.

    Use air drying to dry and harden. After drying and hardening, need Dipping, Spread Sand, and Drying several times until the shell reaches the specified thickness.

    Use high-temperature steam to expel the wax from the mold shell. This results in a molded shell with a cavity ready for pouring. After dewaxing, to make the shell stronger and remove the remaining wax and moisture, we still need to bake it at about 1000°C.

  • Stainless Steel:

    It is an alloy steel containing 12% to 30% chromium. Its full name is stainless acid-resistant steel. The origin of this name is that the chromium element will form a powerful and sufficient oxide film on the surface of stainless steel, which prevents oxygen from continuing to react with the metal inside. Stainless steel can still rust if used improperly. Stainless steel can be divided into ferritic stainless steel, austenitic stainless steel, ferrite-austenitic duplex stainless steel, and martensitic stainless steel according to its organizational state.

    Ferritic stainless steel is a stainless steel whose matrix is dominated by a ferrite structure (a phase) with a body-centered cubic crystal structure. It is magnetic and generally cannot be hardened by heat treatment, but cold working can make it slightly. 430 and 446.

    Austenitic stainless steel is a stainless steel whose matrix is dominated by an austenite structure (CY phase) with a face-centered cubic crystal structure. It is non-magnetic and is mainly strengthened by cold working (and may lead to certain magnetism) 200 and 300 series.

    Ferrite-austenite duplex stainless steel, the matrix has both austenite and ferrite two-phase structures, of which the content of the less phase matrix is generally greater than 15%. It is magnetic and can be strengthened by cold working. 329.

304 is one of the most widely used stainless steels. It is suitable for manufacturing deep-drawn formed parts, acid pipelines, containers, structural parts, various instrument bodies, etc. It can also be used to manufacture non-magnetic and low-temperature equipment and components.

The sensitized state resistance of 304L to intergranular corrosion is significantly better than that of 304 stainless steel. The slightly lower strength and other properties are the same as 321 stainless steel. It is mainly used for corrosion-resistant equipment and components that require welding and cannot be solution-treated. It can be used to manufacture various instrument bodies, etc.

316 has good resistance to reducing media and pitting corrosion resistance. In seawater and various other media, the corrosion resistance is better than 304 stainless steel, and it is mainly used for pitting corrosion-resistant materials.

316L stainless steel. Ultra-low carbon steel has good resistance to sensitized intergranular corrosion. It is suitable for manufacturing welded parts and equipment with thick cross-sections, such as corrosion-resistant materials in petrochemical equipment.
